Maricopa County Landfills and Transfer Stations
Maricopa County operates several facilities that accept general household waste. The Northwest Regional Landfill in Surprise and the Agua Fria Transfer Station in Avondale are the most convenient for West Valley residents. Most accept general waste, construction debris, and appliances for a fee. Hours vary, so call ahead before making the trip.
City Bulk Trash Pickup
Most Phoenix metro cities offer free bulk trash pickup on a monthly or quarterly schedule. Peoria, Glendale, Surprise, Goodyear, and Phoenix all have their own bulk trash programs. The catch: most have specific pickup windows, item size limits, and won't accept hazardous materials, paint, tires, or electronics. If your junk doesn't meet the requirements, it'll sit at the curb until you handle it another way.
Donation Centers
If your items are in decent condition, donation is the best option. Habitat for Humanity ReStore locations throughout the Valley accept furniture, appliances, and building materials. Goodwill and St. Vincent de Paul have multiple drop-off locations. Not everything qualifies — items must be clean and functional.
Electronics and Hazardous Waste
TVs, computers, and monitors can't go in a regular dumpster. Maricopa County holds free HHW (Household Hazardous Waste) drop-off events throughout the year at rotating locations. Best Buy also accepts many electronics for recycling. For paint, oil, and chemical disposal, the county's HHW program is your best bet.
